Customer Review: Inexpensive Camping Generator
For the most part I am happy with this generator. It seems to do the job. However, it has 2 glitches that need to be noted. The fuel guage window has become more and more opaque over the short 3 months that I have owned the generator. The plastic used in the guage window is obviously not fuel vapor resistant- However, I can live with this. One other note- The fuel line turn-off valve (the one below the tank) leaks slightly when in the "flow on" position. I think I can replace it with a simple motorcycle tank valve that it closely resembles. Other than these two items- It works just great and the price was absolutely right.
Customer Review: Understanding the watt power for using this product
I live in hurricane alley at the foot of the Gulf of Mexico. After suffering through Katrina and after carefully studying my minimum needs for emergency power I bought this product. I am very happy with it. I have installed a small manual transfer switch which can use six of my main box breakers. My fridge runs at 600 watts but the start up surge is 1800 watts. I will start this up first before adding the load of my two window A/C units, which both run at 650 watts and have a very little need for extra wattage start up surge. The necessary run surge as compared to the 3X start up surge on some appliances, was, at first, hard for me to understand. But is a vital piece of knowledge before knowing how powerful a generator to buy. This unit cannot be expected to run a 2000 watt appliance that has a 6000 watt surge need. But if you stagger your appliance's on line startups, this unit can fit your needs, and can run for 3-4 hours per gallon of gas at 50% load. Larger, more powerful generators are great IF purchasing emergency gasoline is not a problem.

While most of the cars we see on the road are mass-produced, by major automobile manufacturers there are a few cars built in limited quantities for special purposes. There are even a few small custom building-manufacturing companies that are the dream come true accompanied by the sweat and hard work of one individual. Such a company was TVR, founded by Trevor Wilkinson, back in 1947. The company was housed in Blackpool, England and specialized in the production of sports/racing cars.

Each car was designed by stylists at the Blackpool plant and completely custom built on the premises. The bodies were made of fiberglass with a full FIA rib cage. Even the seats were hand-sewn by seamstresses on site.

The company also sponsored a one-make racing series billed as the TVR Tuscan Challenge.

One limited production car, designed specifically for this race, was the TVR Tuscan Racer or Speed 8. This was a convertible with a fiberglass body mounted over a tubular steel chass. It was powered by a 4441 cc Rover V8 engine and had a Borg Warner T5.5 manual transmission.

The TVR's were soon billed as "one of the world's most powerful performance cars." In 2005, the company ceased to be the culmination of a British dream as it was purchased by the 24-year-old Russian millionaire Nikolai Smolensky.

Another dream was the Dauer Racing 962 LM. This car is also somewhat of a mystery as it is not certain just how many were built although Dauer claimed he could produce fifty. Jochen Dauer was the founder of the Dauer Racing Team who had already tasted success in the World Sportcar Championship and IMSA.

Regardless of production figures, the 962 was unique in that it was a racing car converted for road use. It has also been described as "One of the most spectacular supercars ever built."

It was styled by Achim Storz, a former employee of Porsche Design. And the Porsche 962 was actually the inspiration for the entire car. It was equipped with a Le Mans spec 2994 c.c watercooled flat-six with dohc per bank operating 4 valves per cylinder. It was capable of producing 730 hp at 7,600 rpm and 517 lbft at 5,000 rpm. According to Dauer it could accelerate 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and 120 mph in 7.2 seconds. It weighed 1080 kg.

The body was very similar to the Porsche Group C racer, being a Kevlar body mounted over a steel tubular space frame. It had large diameter wheels and tires.

But a problem that was never overcome in the road use conversion was cabin size. Racing cars are designed to accommodate one person, the driver. Street cars, at minimum, must seat a driver and at least one passenger. Although Dauer crammed two seats into the cabin, it was so crowded that the passenger's shoulder would come in contact with the driver's. The driver's head came close to touching the window and there was little leg room. Finally, one had to detach the steering wheel to enter and exit the vehicle. This is true of racing cars.

While the car had excellent forward vision, rear vision was poor. Like a truck, there was no rear window and the driver had to depend on side mirrors for a rear view. This would make it a choice for the driver who valued speed and performance over comfort and convenience.

However, both the cars and their creators serve as examples of what a single individual with a dream can achieve.

A truck tool box is a great addition to a pick up truck. Most pick up trucks don't have much place in the cab to store and carry tools or other items, so the truck tool box works great for putting your tools in. They are also great for fun items such as sports or fishing gear. You can mount a tool box in the bed of your pickup and have a safe place for all of these things. Lots of different types for each style of truck exist.

A top mounted tool box is intended to be placed in the bed of the truck right behind the cab. They come with single or double lids, one large compartment, or many smaller divided compartments. You can choose among them depending on the type of things you want to carry in the tool box. You can get a multiple compartment one when you carry a lot of small parts and for larger tools, one big compartment is best.

Another type of tool box is the side mounted one that fits on the side of the truck bed. The majority of these are intended for the inside of the truck. These also come with sized to suit every truck, including small compacts, large full size trucks and everything in between. This box opens from the top and you want OT have one that locks or has a lock on it to protect your tools.

A crossover box is a popular one for most people who need a truck tool box in a pickup truck. They go behind the cab of just about any truck and come in a wide variety of sizes with a wide variety of features. They are attached to the bed of the truck with bolts so they cannot be picked up and taken away.

Tool boxes for trucks come in a number of different materials.

Plastic ones are the cheapest and although they will suit you as a basic tool box, they are not as durable. If you don't want to spend a lot, they will work, especially if you plan on using it for light use. For storing an transporting heavy tools, it probably will not last long.

Another popular material for truck tools boxes is aluminum. It is more long lansting than plastic, but still lightweight. It is only slightly higher in cost than a plastic one yet will last a lot longer. They have a durable, wipe clean finish that usually comes in black or natural aluminum color.

The sturdiest, strongest and longest lasting material for truck toolboxes is steel. They are the perfect choice for use by professionals and will take a lot of heavy use. For this reason, steel toolboxes are also the costliest of the truck tool boxes. The best kind is powder coated steel; this spray on coating further increases durability since this makes the steel more impervious to weather.

There are many good brands to choose from when it comes to but a preferred one for professional use as well as recreational truck use is Delta. They carry many styles in both plastic and steel. Their plastic models are excellent quality and a good choice for fishing tackle, camping items or other lightweight recreational items. The Delta champion line is an excellent choice for big tool boxes. They have a good choice when it comes to sizes and styles. They can fit all trucks, from full size, medium down to compact trucks. The boxes have three layer laminate with a stiff insulated lid for both security and long life. They contain a locking system and the weather seal on this lid will help to seal out rain.

The Delta Pro series comes in steel or aluminum. This is the strongest tool box made by Delta. This crossover toolbox has a latching system with double jaws and an extra strengthened front rail, both of which are designed to foil thieves. These prevent theft. There are separate areas to store for hand tools and other small objects in addition to a large main compartment.

Generac Portable Products 1000 8" Economy Generator Wheel Kit

Customer Review: Generac Portable Products 8" Economy Generator Wheel Kit
This wheel kit is easy to install. The instructions are clear and simple. The parts are well-made, as is the Generac generator on which I installed the kit. The seller was extremely prompt in shipment, with the kit arriving prior to the promised date. The only recommendation I would make for the product is that the handle be a hinged model, similar to the handle which comes installed on the 3500 Generac generator. As is, the fixed handle takes up an extra 2 feet of storage area. For this reason, I didn't permanently mount the handle. There is a "fancier" wheel kit available, but the extra cost hardly seems worthwhile for the little difference. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone with a Generac generator. It certainly beats carrying it around!!

So many hobbies these days involve trailers. Trailers are used for camping, to haul boats, and jet skis, as well as, motorcycles and ATV's. All of these gadgets and toys are fun and enjoyable...that is, except for maneuvering the trailer. It can be extremely difficult to turn and shift trailers around, especially in tight places. This is a time when a power trailer mover can help.

A Power Caster trailer mover is terrific for individuals who want the luxury of a trailer mover. It uses a standard style hitch and crank up jack to move RV trailers, jet ski trailers, and boat or ATV trailers. Power Caster has been manufacturing such devices since 1967. To insure consistent quality, the Power Caster is hand-assembled. This process is just one reason why the product is so reliable.

A single or tandem-axle trailer can easily be moved in just a matter of minutes. With little effort, the trailer will maneuver sharp turns, tight driveways, and tight corners are no match for this device. Those narrow areas where a vehicle cannot effectively place a trailer are history with the Power Caster. I can't say enough about it.

My family would spend a half hour trying to squeeze our fifth-wheel trailer into our small drive next to the house. The tight corner and neighbor's fence made this a daunting task. The Power Caster has changed all of this. Now, the trailer just whips right into place with ease.

Now, the family enjoys more time camping and less time fiddling with the trailer. When physical limitations made it difficult to move our small single-axle trailer, the Power Caster saved the day. I no longer deal with straining or stress to get the trailer where it needs to be.

All of the power and convenience of my trailer mover fits right into the trunk. It is easy to operate and convenient to take with us on trips away from home. I take it with me to the beach, campground, anywhere we take the trailer.

If I had to continue fighting the fifth-wheel or single-axle trailer to twist and turn into the tight spots, I probably would have to consider a new type of hobby, but with the convenience of a power trailer mover, I can continue to enjoy the recreation that I love. Maneuvering the trailer is no longer a nightmare.

Makita 12,000-Watt 22 HP Portable Power Generator with Electric Start #G12000R

Everyone has heard about the HHO conversion kit frenzy. These kits, also known as "run your car on water" kits, let you enhance your car's power with water. Instead of using solely gasoline, your car also burns HHO gas, a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, to create a clean energy source to power your car. These kits bring many benefits with them: to you, to your car, and to the environment.

The most important benefit, to you, is saving literally hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in gas spend. Oil prices recently crossed 125 dollars per barrel, and all experts agree that this trend is going to continue. Running your car on water using HHO conversion kits will allow your car to use water along with gasoline to produce the same power, thus reducing the number of gallons of fossil fuel your car consumes. This decrease in fuel consumption translates into less visits to the gas station and less spending for gasoline.

Your car benefits as well. You may be surprised to know, but car engines are not built well. Their efficiency is just below 20%, meaning that over 80% of the energy that the engine produces turns to heat and pollution. Besides the fact that you burn 80% of your money when you drive, this pollution, which is made of unburned fuel and other remainders, ruins the engine and shortens its life. When you use an HHO conversion kit you actually also clean up your engine. This means that your car benefits with a cleaner engine and you benefit with less visits to the repair shop.

The environment, which becomes more polluted every second, also benefits from your transition to HHO conversion on your car. When the "water for gas" system is working, it uses the car battery to break down water molecules, create HHO gas, and burn it to create only energy and clean water vapor. This system doesn't use the car's engine, so it doesn't pollute more. It actually makes your car pollute less for "sharing" its work with the engine, so the engine doesn't have to work too hard.

There are many HHO conversion kits on the market, but many of them are scams and ruin the engine. To get yourself a good "water for fuel" kit, visit the HHO conversion kit area of Great-Info-Products.com.

For many people, it is considered too expensive to own an RV camper. Many people cannot afford the costs of purchasing and maintaining one. The recent alternative to buying an RV camper is to rent one instead and it has become a very popular and affordable option for the average consumer.

The RV camper rental company of Cruise America has been in business since 1972 and is still going strong. They are a family owned firm that began as the brainchild of Robert Smalley Sr. The main headquarters are in Mesa, Arizona with eighteen stores and over 130 dealer outlets across the United States.

Cruise America offers class C RV campers that are built in Elkhart, Indiana by the Four Winds International Corp. Their recent achievements include completing their 25,000 motorhome in April of 2004. When this occurred, Cruise America unveiled a new line of RV rentals that feature well-known sites and landmarks that capture the "Spirit of America."

Cruise America offers various types of RV campers for rent. They offer a compact RV camper that is something that only Cruise America offers. This choice includes a pick-up truck that is easy to operate, yet powerful. This pick-up is attached to a motorhome coach that comes with many excellent features, such as a kitchen equipped with a microwave, a dining area, living area and queen size bed cabover. The bathroom is located at the rear of the coach. This RV camper is recommended for four people, and comes in lengths of 22' to 24'.

The large RV camper is most people's idea of a conventional motorhome. Most of these models come with a reliable and powerful generator, and has the room to sleep as many as seven people. They have all the typical conveniences of motorhomes, and come in lengths of 28' to 30'.

The Trailer RV camper is something new for Cruise America. It gives you the opportunity to tow a vehicle for a lot less than it would cost to rent one. This choice also comes with a generator and will accommodate as many as five people. It is a great choice for those smaller weekend getaways because it is so economical and easy to use.

The Fun Mover RV camper is a unique way to camp and also bring your various sport vehicles or other items you need for camping. It includes a roomy storage area in the back and a separate area in the front that is designated as the living area with all the comforts of a home away from home. There is also an option for those that need an RV camper that is ADA accessible. This type of RV camper has many features to make a wheelchair bound person comfortable such as wider doorways and a power lift.

Renting an RV camper from Cruise America is a great way to experience the joys of camping without all the expense and maintenance.

Generator set, skid mounted, tactical quiet 5 kW, 60 and 400 Hz ... 6115-01-274-7391 (SuDoc D 101.113:9-6115-641-12)

When you are ready to build a wind generator one of the items that you need to pick up is a DC motor. Many people have asked us where do you find a good motor for a wind generator.

The simple answer for that is eBay. eBay offers every sort of imaginable piece of hardware out there and they do offer DC motors that work well with wind generators.

Here is what you are looking for in a DC motor for your wind generator. You're looking for a permanent magnet DC motor. You will have to pay attention to these details: RPM's, shaft size, amps, and voltage.

When used as generators DC motors have to spun far faster then they're rated for to produce the power they're rated for as input. Your DC motor should be rated for high DC voltage, low RPM's and high current.

You'll want a motor that puts out a little over 12 volts at low RPM, as well as a useful level of current. A motor that is rated for 325 RPM's and 30 volts when used as a generator should produce 12+ volts at 325 RPM.

As a general rule of thumb look for a DC motor with RPM rating of under 400. The shaft size should be over 5/8" as that will ensure that your DC motor can withstand the pounding that they sometimes take. Look for a voltage rating of 30 - 80 volts. This will ensure that your wind generator will be able to produce 12 volts at low RPM.

As you can see, finding a DC motor for your wind generator isn't as hard as you think. eBay is a great place to find them.

Customer Review: Terrific So Far
Honeywell HW7500E 9375 Watt 15 HP 420cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Home Generator With Electric Start (Non-CARB Compliant) Received it before the estimated ship date. Stored it for 2 months before assembling it. The directions are generic so some of the displays were a bit off. It came with the wrong nuts and bolts. Called service line, had them ship new packet. Shipped only half the nuts and bolts. Had to scrounge some from my spare pieces. Took me about 3 hours. With the right parts probably could have done it in two and I am not at all skillful. Put the handles on and put in in position at the back of the house. Covered it with a tarp. Once I figured out what the correct choke position was, this puppy powered right up with the electric start and purred like a kitten. I also used gas that had sat for three months. I thought maybe the battery would need to be trickle charged since it sat for two months in my cold garage, but it didn't. Generated power to all eight outlets. Could only slightly hear it once inside the house. It's not that loud. Now, I am ready for those Ohio power outages that American Electric Power is famous for due to wind, ice, snow, or if someone hits a pole or a generating station goes off line. Just need to run the supplied 20 foot cord with 4 outlets through the window, and, if necessary, can run four extensions the same way to the other four outlets on the panel. I don't plan on having an electrician hard wire it at this point. So far so good. If I get 1000 hours out of it, it will have cost me a buck an hour plus gas to have A/C, heat, lights, tv, cable, internet, and appliances hooked up as necessary. Comes with a three year warranty. It seems to be well built, heavy, but rolls easily on its two wheels. Very pleased with quality and ease of starting.
Customer Review: let the chinese buy it
I had a generac generator that I just gave to my son in law and replaced it with this generator,,after reading all the pros and cons on these reviews I took it for granted that the info I was reading was up to date..well LISTEN TO THE BAD NEWS,,,the nice rubber tires are probably made of the cheap plastic that the funnel was made of,,,it will never go flat it will crack up in a few years,,oh the colors are pretty , so is the crap at the dollar store, what im telling you that the only thin that is made here in the USA is the box it came in after I assembled it and fueled it up I read the box and said made in china,,,I had called Honeywell and asked them who makes their engine they replied Kohler,,,I called Kohler and asked about this engine ,,,they replied that this one is made in China and who knows what design they used..If I had known this I would never have purchased it and If I had not assembled the unit and fueled it up I would have brought it back to the shipper and refused it..now maybe this being built in China means nothing to many, It means something to me..so if you like the tidbits you enjoy working in the usa,,,like social security Medicaid and other benefits, you can spend the money and find a generator made in the usa,,or you can throw your future in the garbage and buy this one,,,the job you save might be your own PS Honeywell and amazon should advertise this item as made in china ,,the only place I have seen that is on the box

Hydrogen fuel cars are already on the streets of many countries. Chrysler, Honda and Mercedes-Benz have already manufactured hydrogen vehicles and many other car companies are going to follow their example.

With the launching of hydrogen cars, many car owners no longer have to worry about gas prices. Unfortunately, buying a hybrid is beyond the financial means for most people. In this case, converting your existing car to a hybrid is the best solution.

By converting your vehicle to burn hydrogen you can:

  • Get gas mileage improvements of more than 50% and save thousands of dollars on gas every year.
  • Reduce the effects of global warming.
  • Get an eco-friendly car that produces cleaner exhaust emissions.
  • Reduce your car's maintenance costs.
  • Get a quieter engine.

Building your own hydrogen generator is very easy to do, if you get access to reliable and comprehensive information.

Hydrogen generators function is based on a chemical reaction. Water is broken into its components: hydrogen and oxygen. This process is called electrolysis, which applies an electric current that splits the water molecules into 2 parts of Hydrogen and 1 part of Oxygen. As you may know, we can't create or destroy energy but we can "rearrange" it into different forms. In this case we simply rearrange H2O into a very powerful fuel, which is called HHO.

HHO doesn't replace gasoline, but it does help your engine burn gas much more efficiently. This results in a big increase in fuel economy.
The materials for making a homemade hydrogen car generator are very affordable and can be found at your local hardware store. The parts are: baking soda, electrical wiring, cement, a sealed quart-size container, cpvc pipes, a vacuum hose etc.
The majority of existing cars can be modified to burn hydrogen and the conversion process is very easy, even if your have minimal mechanical skills.

More and more people all over the country are building their own hydrogen generators and save hundreds of dollars on gas every month.

Do you want to build your very own hydrogen generator and save thousands of dollars on gas cost?

Guardian 5261 Elite 45,000 Watt Liquid-Cooled Propane/Natural Gas Home Automatic Standby Generator With Steel Enclosure (Non-CARB Compliant)

I am sure that by reading this article, you might have heard about a hydrogen fuel cell generator and are curios about how this whole system works and if it does in fact work.

A hydrogen fuel cell generator can come in many different forms. You can buy a hybrid car which will set you back thousands and thousands of dollars. You also have the option of buying a ready made kit which also doesn't come cheap or you can opt for installing your own hydrogen fuel cell generator which is easy to do and also very affordable.

You might be wondering exactly how a hydrogen fuel cell generator works?

This whole system works by splitting water into oxygen and hydrogen through a process called electrolysis. A gas called Brown's gas is then created and used as a supplementary gas to normal gasoline, which makes for a very powerful combination to power you car with.

A hydrogen fuel cell generator can be installed in under half a day and the savings you will have on fuel costs are tremendous. You will not only be saving money (which is the main benefit), but you will also increase your car's fuel mileage, have a smoother running car, prolong the engine life and have less and cleaner emissions.

The parts for the kit can be purchased for under $100 dollars at your local hardware store - all you need is a clearly illustrated, step-by-step guide to help you install it.

There's no sign that fuel prices are going to trend downwards in the future, so it is best you take action in finding a solution for keeping your money in your pocket.

GenTran 53002 Generator Cord Power Inlet Box for 30 amps 120 volts

Before you start buying the best looking or biggest brand name hedge trimmer out there, you should learn a few of the basics. In this article I will go through some of these basics to help you learn more about what you should expect from your new hedge trimmer.

There are three different ways a hedge trimmer can be powered. Hedge trimmers can be powered via electricity, and gasoline rechargeable battery packs. Hedge trimmers which are powered by electricity are typically lighter and are designed for uninterrupted trimming. The downside: you can only go as far as the cord. This isn't a great idea if you have a large yard or don't like the safety factor of having extension cords lay across the yard.

Gasoline hedge trimmers are mobile because they aren't restricted by the use of a cord. They are more powerful due to the nature of gasoline. However, gasoline driven trimmers are louder, weigh more and pollutant due to exhaust fumes.

Rechargeable battery driven hedge trimmers allow you have the mobility of a gasoline with the cleaniness of a electric trimmer. You don't have to worry about cutting the power cord, because there is none. Although less powerful than gasoline, you will still usually have around 30 minutes of use before you would need to recharge it. It's a smart idea to have multiple battery packs so you can use your rechargeable battery hedge trimmer non-stop.

Hedge trimmers use a single-action, where the top blade rotates, using the stationary lower blade to cut against. Double-sided blades slide back and forth so as to sweep across hedges in both directions which ends up giving a better cut.

To reach those hard to get areas, a double position trimmer means you dont have to climb high up because of the blade angle. You can simply adjust the head with the blades to cut.

Make sure to pick which features you require so you don't get buyers remorse with your new hedge trimmer.

I am not sure if his is good or bad news, but an end is very close to this smart used car shopping series. I will dedicate this article to analyzing, and considering the overall price of the car, and the the article to follow will be the finale, and it will be dedicated to closing the deal. First lets start be recapping that I spoke about the importance of brainstorming, and how starting with a large list then narrowing down is very critical to the satisfaction level associated with the final decision. Also, the importance of gathering different quotes was discussed, along with identifying the key to an analytic test drive.

But before I go on, I need to remind you that shopping for a used car is not something the average person intends to do very often or at least not as much as he or she goes out grocery shopping. If you go out shopping while hungry you may buy things that you dont need, on the other hand if you go out shopping without a list, the odds are that you are going to get home and figure that you forgot to buy something. In other words, you need to engage in smart used car shopping. So, lets get to business.

It is very important for you as a smart buyer to know that the sticker price will not be the final out of pocket amount. Even though the dealership may quote you an out of the door price, which includes the sales tax, licensing, and registration, this however is still not final. You should consider the long term effects of the car ownership on your financial situation. In other words consider the annual depreciation cost of the car, and the annual insurance costs. Furthermore, you should never neglect preplanning for maintenance, repairs, and fuel costs. For more information, check out the Smart Used Car Shopping.

When people think of solar panels what often comes to mind is that they are very expensive and it will take years to see any monetary benefits. Some even think that they are inefficient and are therefore not worth the money being put into it. Many people are wondering how to build a homemade solar panel as a viable alternative.

How times have changed. Solar technology has advanced so much in the years that it has been around that even small units are more efficient and cost effective then five years ago. Furthermore, the technology used to construct these solar panels can be found in ordinary DIY stores for as little as $200.

The main advantages on learning how to build a homemade solar panel are:-

They are easy to construct - You don't need an engineering degree to work out how to build one.

The hardware needed to construct a homemade solar panel can be found in normal DIY stores.

The technology used to build a homemade solar panel are more efficient than five years ago.

The units are smaller than the commercially available solar panels. They are ideal for those who don't have much roof space.

The solar panels are portable. You can take them camping.

The material used to convert the solar energy to power is efficient. You don't need to live in Sun City to make use of them.

You can save a substantial amount of your energy bill

You have an alternative source of energy in cases of power outages (you will need batteries for this).

It's environmentally friendly.

You can sell unused electricity back to the power grid.

If you are serious about reducing those ever increasing energy bills it is a lot easier to learn how to build a homemade solar panel. Who knows, once you get good at it you could even sell on the units for a profit. The possibilities are endless.

10 Watt Silver Frame Mono-crystalline Solar Panel and Battery Charger

This is a 10 Watt Mono-crystalline Solar Panel and 12V Charger. The solar panel is waterproof. The working voltage for charging is 17.2V. If you need to use it to charge a car battery, you may need a charge controller to prevent the battery from overcharging. Connections included: alligator battery clamps. There are three types of Solar Cells on the market. All our Solar chargers use the best - Mono-Crystalline Solar Cells. Amorphous or Dual Junction Solar Glass are the cheapest but are only 7% energy efficient and have 5 years service life. They are big and heavy. Poly-Crystalline have 25 plus years of service life under direct sunlight and are 13% efficient. Mono-Crystalline have 25 plus years service life and are up to 20% efficient. This is the same type used in solar car racing. This type of solar cells is now in a worldwide shortage because only a few companies can manufacture this solar cells.

With fuel and power costs rising, it makes sense for people to search for ways to save on their electricity bill. One of the best ways to do this is to develop a renewable energy solution. By doing so, an average household can see a dramatic decrease the cost to power their home. In fact, when several energy sources are combined, it may be possible to eliminate the bill altogether!

There are a few renewable energy methods including solar or geothermal energy, but this article will focus on the steps one should take to implement a home build wind generator power system.

The first step to take is to find out where to acquire windmills or wind turbines. There are many contractors out there who will charge a lot of money to install windmills, so it might be a good idea to search for do-it-yourself instructions. Although there are times when going the cheap route can end up being disastrous, there are enough high quality instruction kits with step-by-step clear instruction kits that this will not be a problem.

Many of these instruction kits can be found on the internet for under $50. Make sure to select on that includes video tutorials and instructions that you can print out. Many of these products have limited time guarantees as well, so be careful to select a product that does.

Once it has been decided how you are going to generate the power, the next step is to make sure it is legal to have a windmill or turbine on the desired property. Windmills generate noise and are unsightly, so plans for wind power systems may have to be cleared with the city planning and zoning department or even the neighborhood homeowners association.

If you are cleared by the local government to go ahead, you should determine how you are going to store the energy. This can be done by running the electricity to battery packs that can collect the power until ready for use. DO NOT try to connect the power generated from the windmills directly to your main circuit box. This is extremely dangerous and should only be performed by a licensed electrician AFTER the appropriate permits are given.

This article presented a plan for how to implement a home built wind power system. It may sound like a difficult journey to take to have wind power, but the savings could definitely be worth it. Many times power companies will pay you back for any excess energy your wind power system might generate. Not only can you save money, you may even be able to make money from your renewable energy system.

What Type of Portable Generators Do You Need?

When I think of portable generators, I think of something that can generate energy in an emergency or at a powerless location (up in the mountains), that can be carried. Well, with a little research, it didn't take me long to discover that there is a lot more to portable generators, and that they can be divided into three different styles. They are: 1. Recreational 2. Emergency 3. Professional So, lets take a look at each of these categories so that you can find the best portable generator for your personal needs. Recreational Portable Generators Now, I did kind of have it right, portable generators allow you to take the convenience of home with you no matter where you go. But you also have to be careful. There is nothing worse than being at a remote campground and having somebody pull up, set up their tent and then start their noisy generator so they can watch a movie. It takes the peace out of being one with nature. When in the outdoors, stick to a recreational generator. They are typically small with low wattage and do not make as much noise as an emergency or professional generator. The most common sizes that a recreational generator comes in is 1000 watts and 2000 watts. The smaller of the two is good for running only one or two appliances at a time, the larger one will usually allow you to run multiple appliances simultaneously. But always be aware of how much wattage each appliance takes, they should all have a plate on the back letting you know their wattage, that way you can unplug and plug in appliances as needed without overloading your generator. Emergency Portable Generators The modern world is very dependent on electricity, and though it can be a fun family evening sitting around in the dark with only candlelight or a fireplace, lack of power can cause some real problems. Security systems can fail, food can spoil, basements can flood, and if you live in the country on your own well, you typically lose your water along with the power. These can be real problems if power is out for an extended period of time. To solve these problems, many people use portable generators as an emergency back up, and your little recreational generator will not do the trick! Now, to know how much power you need if your power goes out, you can figure it the long way by looking at every appliance needed and tallying up the total wattage, or you can use a general rule of thumb. Medium portable generators (30000 - 6000 watts) will allow you to power multiple appliances; however, any appliance that has a motor (fridge, furnace, sump pump, freezer) takes more power and you would not want to run two of these at the same time on this small of a generator. You would have to rotate the major appliances that you need to run. So, the cost is less, but it takes more effort to keep things going. If you want more power, you can move up to the 7000 - 9000 watt range, this will allow you to power multiple rooms or a couple of larger, motorized appliances at one. But even this size is not enough if you want to run an air conditioner. If you want central AC, you have to get the extra large portable generators that are 10,000+ watts. These will restore power to most of your house, assuming your home is not very large. But if you are running a central air conditioner, check the amount of energy that your AC needs to make sure that you get a generator that is big enough. Professional Generators These portable generators are typically used on a job site, and the sizing is basically the same as for emergency generators. You have to consider how big the job is, and how much equipment and tools you need the generator to power. Professional generators are typically a bit beefier than their home emergency counter parts, they are designed to hold up under rougher conditions. Personally, when in the outdoors, I do not need to power a coffee maker, TV or mini fridge. But having been in many black outs, I do like the idea of the emergency portable generators. Especially having lived in the country and know what it is like to have to melt snow on a wood burning stove just to flush a toilet! But how about you, do you have any need for a portable generator? Briggs & Stratton Model 030235 Portable Generator Information

I paid $649 for a Briggs & Stratton model 030235 portage generator on sale at Pep Boys. I live in Houston and there are often storms and flood events that can knock out electric service. I also wanted to have emergency power for my small insurance and mortgage business. The generator is rated at 5550 watts with 8550 starting watts. It has a 5 gallon gas tank and can run for about 7 hours at 50% load. It has 120 and 240 outlets and came with a heavy duty extension cord set. Oil was included in the box and after I put the oil and fuel in it started on the first pull. It is moderately noisy, about what you would expect from this size generator. The documentation is adequate. One of the reasons I selected this generator is the large number for starting or surge watts. One of the main uses for my generator will be to run window air conditioners. A typical 10,000 BTU unit may run on 1200 watts but will need an extra 1800 starting watts. A larger unit could take even more starting watts so I suggest 2,000 or more extra starting watts if you want to run an air conditioner. You won't be able to run your central air conditioner with this generator because they typically need 10,000 or more starting watts, plus the running watts. Here is an idea of what you could run with this generator: Two 10,000 room air conditioners (2,400 watts) Refrigerator (800) Freezer (500) Television (500) Microwave (1,000) Plus a few small light bulbs If you are going to get a generator here are some tips: Don't wait for a hurricane or flood, generators will be sold out or very expensive Don't undersize the generator, get one that is large enough for your needs Get a few 5 gallon gas cans and some extra fuel Add fuel stabilizer to the stored gas and change at least annually Get a heavy duty extension cord designed for generators Be careful and read the directions, generators and gasoline are dangerous! Generators are a target for theft, store them securely If you have any questions about this generator you can contact me at my Texas flood insurance website.
