Customer Review: Inexpensive Camping Generator
For the most part I am happy with this generator. It seems to do the job. However, it has 2 glitches that need to be noted. The fuel guage window has become more and more opaque over the short 3 months that I have owned the generator. The plastic used in the guage window is obviously not fuel vapor resistant- However, I can live with this. One other note- The fuel line turn-off valve (the one below the tank) leaks slightly when in the "flow on" position. I think I can replace it with a simple motorcycle tank valve that it closely resembles. Other than these two items- It works just great and the price was absolutely right.
Customer Review: Understanding the watt power for using this product
I live in hurricane alley at the foot of the Gulf of Mexico. After suffering through Katrina and after carefully studying my minimum needs for emergency power I bought this product. I am very happy with it. I have installed a small manual transfer switch which can use six of my main box breakers. My fridge runs at 600 watts but the start up surge is 1800 watts. I will start this up first before adding the load of my two window A/C units, which both run at 650 watts and have a very little need for extra wattage start up surge. The necessary run surge as compared to the 3X start up surge on some appliances, was, at first, hard for me to understand. But is a vital piece of knowledge before knowing how powerful a generator to buy. This unit cannot be expected to run a 2000 watt appliance that has a 6000 watt surge need. But if you stagger your appliance's on line startups, this unit can fit your needs, and can run for 3-4 hours per gallon of gas at 50% load. Larger, more powerful generators are great IF purchasing emergency gasoline is not a problem.

While most of the cars we see on the road are mass-produced, by major automobile manufacturers there are a few cars built in limited quantities for special purposes. There are even a few small custom building-manufacturing companies that are the dream come true accompanied by the sweat and hard work of one individual. Such a company was TVR, founded by Trevor Wilkinson, back in 1947. The company was housed in Blackpool, England and specialized in the production of sports/racing cars.

Each car was designed by stylists at the Blackpool plant and completely custom built on the premises. The bodies were made of fiberglass with a full FIA rib cage. Even the seats were hand-sewn by seamstresses on site.

The company also sponsored a one-make racing series billed as the TVR Tuscan Challenge.

One limited production car, designed specifically for this race, was the TVR Tuscan Racer or Speed 8. This was a convertible with a fiberglass body mounted over a tubular steel chass. It was powered by a 4441 cc Rover V8 engine and had a Borg Warner T5.5 manual transmission.

The TVR's were soon billed as "one of the world's most powerful performance cars." In 2005, the company ceased to be the culmination of a British dream as it was purchased by the 24-year-old Russian millionaire Nikolai Smolensky.

Another dream was the Dauer Racing 962 LM. This car is also somewhat of a mystery as it is not certain just how many were built although Dauer claimed he could produce fifty. Jochen Dauer was the founder of the Dauer Racing Team who had already tasted success in the World Sportcar Championship and IMSA.

Regardless of production figures, the 962 was unique in that it was a racing car converted for road use. It has also been described as "One of the most spectacular supercars ever built."

It was styled by Achim Storz, a former employee of Porsche Design. And the Porsche 962 was actually the inspiration for the entire car. It was equipped with a Le Mans spec 2994 c.c watercooled flat-six with dohc per bank operating 4 valves per cylinder. It was capable of producing 730 hp at 7,600 rpm and 517 lbft at 5,000 rpm. According to Dauer it could accelerate 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and 120 mph in 7.2 seconds. It weighed 1080 kg.

The body was very similar to the Porsche Group C racer, being a Kevlar body mounted over a steel tubular space frame. It had large diameter wheels and tires.

But a problem that was never overcome in the road use conversion was cabin size. Racing cars are designed to accommodate one person, the driver. Street cars, at minimum, must seat a driver and at least one passenger. Although Dauer crammed two seats into the cabin, it was so crowded that the passenger's shoulder would come in contact with the driver's. The driver's head came close to touching the window and there was little leg room. Finally, one had to detach the steering wheel to enter and exit the vehicle. This is true of racing cars.

While the car had excellent forward vision, rear vision was poor. Like a truck, there was no rear window and the driver had to depend on side mirrors for a rear view. This would make it a choice for the driver who valued speed and performance over comfort and convenience.

However, both the cars and their creators serve as examples of what a single individual with a dream can achieve.

The Dodge Sprinter is really something to be excited about. This is not a tiny mini-van for soccer moms to cram the kids into; the Dodge Sprinter is a new full-size van model. Most full-size vans on the road are beasts from a previous era. They don't make many of these anymore, and these old models that are still on the road are usually clunky gas hogs. They're the kind of vehicles that keep you in suspense every time you get on the highway, wondering if this is the day it dies. For van lovers, the Dodge Sprinter offers something new, high-quality and functional.

Not Your Typical Family Van:
The Dodge Sprinter was made with commercial uses in mind. This means it is not only a great vehicle for van lovers and heavy-stuff-haulers, but it can also make a great company vehicle. It can also function as a family van. It seats the whole family and more, or you can take out the seats and have more cargo space than you ever dreamed of.

This vehicle takes all the features of full-sized vans and fine tunes them. It has the highest ceilings, the widest back door, and the lowest step-on height of any vehicle in its class. This makes it easier to use and more comfortable.

When buying a Sprinter, you can opt for a number of unique features. Of course, these are extras, but they are worth checking out. Features like climate control, heated seats, rear parking assistance, sun roof and telescopic steering control set it apart from other models on the market.

For commercial use vans, it has features that help keep your cargo secure, like skid protection, a lashing rail system, and load securing features. These options may seem a bit overwhelming to look at, but it's well worth building your own to get exactly what you want.

Finally, it's not just useful; it's also stylish. Look at the sloped front and the sleek design, and you'll see that it's a van that drives well and looks good. The secret is that the model was actually created by none other than Mercedes Benz. It is sold in the States by Dodge. This is why it looks so nice.

Dodge Sprinter Specs
The Sprinter has a 3.0-L V6 diesel engine and a V6 gas engine, so you can choose which suits you. It comes with standard features, 5-speed automatic transmission and 3.92 axle ratio. It weighs in at just under 10,000 pounds, with the 2500 model a little lighter. It has 154 horsepower.

You can choose between two vehicle length sizes and roof heights. It has black cloth bucket seats, and the all recline, including the front passenger seat. The Sprinter starts at about $35,000.

The Dodge Sprinter is a breath of fresh air for van lovers everywhere. This sleek new model is both useful for hauling stuff, and comfortable for hauling people. Whether you're into road trips, camping, carrying lots of kids, or hauling heavy stuff for work, the Dodge Sprinter is a vehicle to consider.
